Family Secrets: 3 Things We've Learned about Families Online ...

Shhh... Don't let the kids find out!

Ohanarama launched in June of 2011 and since then we?ve been providing games, quizzes and contests for extended families online, primarily in the United States and Canada.? We?ve been asking our families to provide feedback about how they use Ohanarama. ?And we are looking at trends across our player activity.? There are three things that we?ve noticed that are interesting, humorous and (dare I admit it?) things we do as well!? See how your family compares:

Families video chat and play online together, from different rooms in the house!

We thought our board games, like checkers and mancala, would mostly be played by family members in different households.? Not the case!? Many of our families admit to playing our turn-based games while video chatting ? all in the same house!

Jami Zabel, mom of two, and one of our family contest winners admits, ?My son likes best that we can play on line together at different computers. For some reason he gets a kick out of that. ?

Secretly the adults are challenging each other, but they don?t let the kids know!

We love to see our families playing games, achieving scores and challenging other family members to beat their score.? When we noticed it wasn?t just kids that were sending challenges, but many adults challenging other adults, we were curious.

What did we find? A healthy dose of competition between Mom and Dad! ?Many moms have shared, that they really compete with their husbands to top each other?s scores, while they will ease up a bit on the accelerator when responding to a challenge from their child.? Others compete among adult relations, like Emma Leslie, who shared that her family?s competitive spirit is brought out online, ?because that?s what we normally do when we get together. We are a gaming family at heart!?

Ummm, sometimes we don?t remember the color of our family members eyes?

Our players love our Relativity quizzes that find out ?How Well Do You Know Your Family Members??.? It?s always fun to guess how your family member might answer a question.? But what if the question is as straightforward as, ?What is the color of Bobby?s eyes??? Well, we don?t always know the answer! ?Hint:? when in doubt, answer BROWN!

So, how about you? ?How would you score if asked to name the color of your Father-in-Law?s eyes without looking?

Hey Aunt Sally, what color are my eyes?
